In-Game Options Menu Guide
This guide explains the settings available in the Options Menu, which can be accessed during gameplay. These settings allow you to customize the AI Narrator's behavior and other gameplay features for your current adventure.
Narrator Instructions
This is the most important setting for tailoring your experience. It's a text box where you provide instructions to the AI Narrator. You can change how it describes events, whether it allows certain actions, or if it should create a "Game Over" state.
- Presets: You can use the preset buttons to quickly load different instruction sets, such as "Neutral", "Easy Mode", or "God Mode". You can also write your own custom instructions.
Status Variables
- Enable Status: Toggles whether the AI should keep track of status variables.
- Update Period: Sets how many turns pass before the AI regenerates the status list.
- Status Variables: A text field where you define what variables the AI should track (e.g., "current location, player's health, inventory").
Vector Database (Long-term Memory)
- Use Vector DB: Toggles the use of a vector database for long-term memory. When enabled, the AI will try to store and recall important lore and worldbuilding information from your story.
- Edit database content: Opens the Database Editor.
Reasoning
- Enable Reasoning: If enabled, the narrator will first "think" about its response step-by-step before writing the final text. This can lead to more logical and consistent story progression. Note: This is not supported by all text generation models/endpoints.
Summary Compression
- Compression Ratio: This slider controls how much of the previous story is compressed into a summary when the context window gets full. A higher percentage means more of the early story is summarized, which can save memory but might lead to the narrator forgetting details.
Illustration Prompts
These settings control how the descriptive text for generating images is created.
- Illustration Prompt: A text field that tells the AI what to describe for the image generation (e.g., "Complete visual description of the current location"). You can choose from presets like "Object", "Location", or "Characters".
- Illustration Style: You can customize the prompt prefix and postfix to guide the artistic style of the generated image (e.g., Prefix: "A cinematic still of", Postfix: "35mm film").
Dice Rolls
- Enable Dice Rolls: Toggles the dice roll feature for the current game.
- Auto Odds: When enabled, the AI will automatically determine the odds of success for an action.
AI Model Selection
- Text/Image Generation Model: These buttons open the main Text & Image Generation settings screens, allowing you to change the AI models used for your current adventure on the fly.
